Mendelsohnhalle Luckenwalde

Erich Mendelsohn's famous hat factory is considered an outstanding example of expressionist industrial architecture.

Mendelsohn, who himself counted the Luckenwalde hat factory among his best designs, became famous for his innovative design and modern architectural construction methods using reinforced concrete technology. By 1923, four production halls, a boiler and turbine house and two associated gate buildings had been built on this site. The most striking building was probably the dyeing hall, which resembled a hat with its shaft-shaped roof dome.

After extensive restoration work, the listed building, which was completed in 1923, has shone again in its original splendor since 2011.
The hall itself can only be viewed from the inside during special events and guided tours. From the outside, the building ensemble can be seen from the street.
