The Berlin-Leipzig cycle route leads from the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin to Leipzig's main train station and connects historic cities such as Jüterbog and Lutherstadt Wittenberg with relaxing natural landscapes such as the Fläming Nature Park or the Dübener Heide Nature Park.
It is a signposted cycle route, which leads next to asphalted cycle paths as well as on road-accompanied cycle paths along federal and country roads and natural forest paths through the Fläming and the Dübener Heide.
Leaving Berlin in a southerly direction, you pass the charming lake district between Rangsdorf and Mellensee. In Stülpe one reaches the unique Flaeming skate and cycles on finest asphalt over Luckenwalde, monastery Zinna and Jüterbog in the direction of Lutherstadt Wittenberg, which invites with its UNESCO world heritage to inspections.
The Luther House, the Castle Church, the City Church with Cranach Altar and the Melanchthon House are part of the UNESCO World Heritage and are worth an extensive tour. The most popular German bike paths (Elberadweg, Europaradweg) meet at the Wittenberg market. Before passing the nature park Dübener Heide with its extensive forest areas, moors and tranquil small towns, the wide Elbaue is driven through.
The route leads directly past the water paradise Bergwitzsee. Between the health resorts of Bad Schmiedeberg, known for its mud baths, and Bad Düben, the bike path reaches its highest point near the Wurzelberg at 180 meters above sea level. The last section of the tour leads on quiet country roads through the rural areas of northern Saxony to the water-rich parklands of the Leipzig Neuseenland before the tour ends in the center of the trade fair city.
