Historical-Technical Museum Kummersdorf

Historical-Technical Museum Kummersdorf

A permanent exhibition in the museum provides information about the development of the army testing facility from 1875 to the present day.

The Kummersdorf test site is divided into two areas, the museum and the open-air grounds. Initially used as an artillery firing range, the army testing facility was then used by the Wehrmacht as a development and testing center for new weapon systems and equipment until 1945. Two rocket engines were also developed here. From 1939, work was carried out on the - unsuccessful - uranium project in Kummersdorf. The entire site has been a listed building since 2007.

Different sections of the museum are dedicated to the individual eras in the history of the site. The period from 1875 to 1918 highlights the beginnings of the military testing facility and the effects of the Treaty of Versailles from 1919 to 1932. This is followed by the era of National Socialism from 1933 to 1945 and continues into the period of Soviet occupation from 1946 to 1994 right up to its current use. Selected exhibits give an impression of the respective main uses of the army testing facility.

The association offers guided tours of some areas of the site on certified routes.
Due to the munitions contamination, the site cannot be entered on your own.
