Historical city information "Monastery Church"
The history of the Ascanians of the Duchy of Saxony-Wittenberg is staged on 1,500 square meters.
A particular highlight is the burial place of Elector Rudolf II with his wife and daughter. The monastery church was recreated as an architectural illusion. In a vivid light presentation, visitors are transported back in time to the 12th-15th centuries. The exhibition shows the formative influence of this Ascanian branch for Wittenberg, the state of Saxony-Anhalt and the central German region from Brandenburg to Saxony.
