Former Bleesern stud farm

Former Bleesern stud farm

Bleesern is the former court stud of the Electors of Saxony. It is the oldest stud farm in Europe, with historical records dating back to 1449.

The oldest evidence of horse breeding in Bleesern dates back to 1449. Between 1675 and 1686, the facility was rebuilt as an "ideal tame stud farm" according to plans by Wolf Caspar von Klengel. The grandeur of the electoral stud is still impressive today, despite some losses.

The Förderverein Hofgestüt Bleesern e.V. is committed to the restoration and sustainable cultural use of the former stables and residential buildings in accordance with the preservation order.

Tip: The Förderverein Hofgestüt Bleesern regularly offers special events such as concerts, cinema, theater, classic car meetings, lectures and much more. Up-to-date information can be found on the website.
