Jüterbog town hall and market square

Town hall Jüterbog

The listed town hall in Jüterbog stands out from afar with its red brick building.

The Jüterbog town hall was completed in 1507. On the upper floor is the Prince's Room, where Wallenstein and Frederick the Great determined the fate of the town. Today it is the mayor's office. This room is a masterpiece of late Gothic architecture. In the center is a twisted sandstone column supporting a star vault.

In the north-east corner of the building is the larger-than-life statue of St. Mauritius, the patron saint of the town. It indicates that Jüterbog was part of the Archbishop of Magdeburg's territory at the time. Letters of indulgence were sold here on his behalf in the spring of 1517.

The prince's chamber, meeting room and court arbor can be visited as part of a guided tour. The small wedding room is also located in this building.
