Bergwitz

The small village in the Dübener Heide Nature Park was first mentioned in a document in 1306. Lake Bergwitz, a former open-cast mining lake, is now a water sports paradise.

The region's most popular bathing and water sports center emerged from the "Roberts Hoffnung" open-cast lignite mine (1908 - 1955). Renaturation began back in the 1960s. Today, closeness to nature, family friendliness and ecological sustainability are the hallmarks of this mining landscape.
The clear water and idyllic beaches attract thousands of holidaymakers from Germany and abroad every year. Lake Bergwitz is considered a water sports paradise and also offers a wide range of other leisure activities.

Our tip: An overnight experience in the floating houses of the Bergwitzsee Resort or a rest and snack in the BiblioTheke, a former library on the beach of the Bergwitzsee.
